The American lifestyle channel "home and garden Television" broadcasted the Program "Up on the roof" on the 8th and 9th of April. A programme concerning alternative manners of living. the next dates are 23 April and 4 June.
In the programme vast
attention has been given to the sky born building in the port of Scheveningen.
The makers of this programme are KPITV, a production company from New
York.
They got interested in alternative ways of living by the recently published
book sky-born buildings. In this book the contexts and the possibilities
of sky born building are described.
The book has been written by architect Eric Vreedenburgh (Archipelontwerpers)
and Ed Melet.
During the recordings both have spoken about their vision on the Sky born
building.
The Sky born houses
which feature in the program have been designed by Archipelontwerpers
and have been completed recently.
In the program special attention is being paid to the spatial configuration
of these houses.
The playful relationship with the building it has been built on, and the
urban qualities of the site in the harbour.
A remarkable detail: The American production team called the harbour to be part of Rotterdam. Scheveningen was probably hard to pronounce.
